60 Years Later

I was 8, in third grade. The moment was so stunning that we were immediately sent right home to be with our families. I ran home and found my mother and Mrs Hunt sitting in front of the TV. They were both crying. That was a deeply sad time for our country.

For the most part, I didn't see a lot of begging here which was nice not to have to deal with that uncomfortable situation. But we drove up to the outdoor market in our expensive, shiny jeep. And everyone saw us. We stuck out. We got out of the vehicle and wandered through the market, minding our own business. When we came back, several people were waiting for us, of course.  They knew we would eventually come back and so they waited. even though we were asked not to give to the beggars, one woman got sucked in and gave her a few USA$$.

I've had a six pack of their blonde ale, years ago and I love it. It's so full of flavor. But I never buy it when I see it. I mostly buy IPAs. But I was on my way home from a trip from Rwanda and had a layover at the airport. After two weeks in Africa, I was looking forward to having a robust beer. I had a few beers in mind but I looked right by my gate and here was the Leffe Brewery. I was excited to see it and took it as a sign from the beer gods. I had just left my tour guide who was wonderful and during the course of the trip, he told me that Leffe was his favorite beer. And here was a whole bar dedicated to this delicious beer. He sent me this brewery. What a great trip home.
